EXPORTACIONES DE AROZ ORGÁNICO DE CAMBODIA  DESARROLLANDOSE BIEN (Organic-Market.Info Online Magazine, Feb. 20, 2015)      (ENGLISH VERSION BELOW)

El  Cambodian Center for Study and Development in Agriculture (CEDAC) exportó 540 toneladas de arroz orgánico fragante en 21014, un aumento del 20% comparado con el 2013, informó el diario Phnom Penh Post.  El CEDAC es uno de los dos únicos exportadores de arroz orgánico de Cambodia. La empresa apunta a exportar 1.000 toneladas de arroz en el futuro próximo para cumplir con la demanda de mercados internacionales. Los mayores compradores del arroz orgánico del CEDAC en este momento son los países Europeos, los EEUU y Hong Kong, pero los países Ärabes son vistos como ungran mercado potencial. La empresa pide al gobierno de Cambodia que promueva la producción  y exportación de arroz orgánico debido a los más altos márgenes que ofrece..

Otra compañía que apunta  al mercado Cambodiano de arroz orgánico, el molino y exportador de arroz convencional AMRU RICE firmó un acuerdo con ocho cooperativas agrícolas en el pasado otoño  en la provincia de Preah Vihear para la compra de 2.500 toneladas de arroz fragante de arrozal para su exportación a la UE y los EEUU. y próximamente embarcará los primeros containers .

Las exportaciones de arroz orgánico es todavía una fracción de las exportaciones totales de arroz de Cambodia que totalizaron 380.000 toneladas en el 2014, según el  Phnom Penh Post. La  Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF) declaró que encontrar las áreas geográficas que cumplan con los estrictos requisitos de la producción orgánica y la tediosa tarea de su certificación significaron que la producción de arroz orgánico se ver limitada y que llevfará algún tiempo antes de que Cambodia pueda desarrollar la producción de un volumen más significativo de arroz orgánico. CAMBODIAN ORGANIC RICE EXPORTS DEVELOPING WELL (Organic-Market.Info Online Magazine, Feb. 20, 2015)

The Cambodian Center for Study and Development in Agriculture (CEDAC) exported 540 tons of fragrant organic rice in 2014, a plus of  20% compared to 2013, the Phnom Penh Post reports. CEDAC is one of only two organic rice exporters in Cambodia. The company aims at exporting 1,000 tons of rice in the near future to fulfil the demand from international markets. European countries as well as the USA and Hong Kong are CEDAC’s biggest organic rice buyers at this point of time, but Arab countries are seen as large potential markets. The company is calling for the Cambodian government to promote the production and the export of organic rice due to its higher margins.

Another company is targeting Cambodia’s organic rice market: the non-organic rice miller and exporter AMRU Ricesigned a deal with eight farmer cooperatives in the Preah Vihear province to purchase 2,500 tons of organic fragrant paddy rice for export to the EU and USA last autumn. It will ship its first five containers of organic rice soon.

Organic rice exports are still a fraction of Cambodia’s overall rice exports, which totaled 380,000 tons in 2014, according to the Phnom Penh Post. The Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF) stated that identifying geographical locations with soil that met the stringent organic requirements as well as the tedious monitoring and certification processes meant that organic rice production was limited and that it would take some time before Cambodia could develop a more substantial volume of organic rice.
