RUSIA: AGRICULTURA LIBRE DE OGM?        (ENGLISH VERSION BELOW)

En un artículo publicado por FreshPlaza (1) se informa que el gobierno Ruso prohibiría completamente el cultivo y, en cierta medida también la importación, de OGM.

Mientras Europa no disminuya las sanciones Rusia mantendrá el boicot, informa el gobierno Ruso. Un estudio en supermercados en Samara, Rusia Central, muestra que los precios subieron significativamente. Y si una propuesta del gobierno se aprueba, Rusia estará a un paso de la agricultura libre de OGMs. La propuesta, además, limita el uso de cultivos OGM. Un número de productos han sido prohibidos por Rusia por 10 años.

El gobierno Ruso presentó un proyecto para prohibir los cultivos OGM, estableciendo que ningún cultivo OGM será permitido en suelo Ruso, excepto para estudios científicos. Y la importación de ese tipo de productos también estaría limitada. Con esta propuesta a ser votada más tarde, Rusia se acercará más a una completa prohibición de productos OGM. Al presente se permite la importación de 18 productos OGM.

RUSSIA: GMO FREE AGRICULTURE?

An article published by FreshPlaza (1) reports that the Russian government ia about to ban completely the cultivation - and to certain extent also imports - of GMO products.

As long as Europe doesn't tone down its sanctions, Russia will maintain its boycott, the Russian government reports. A study in Russian supermarkets in Samara, Central Russia, shows that prices for vegetables have gone up significantly. And if a proposal by the government is voted through, Russia will be a step closer to GMO free agriculture. The proposal further limits the use of GMO crops. A number of products had been banned by Russia for 10 years.

The Russian government has passed a proposal to ban the cultivation of GMO crops. The proposal states that no GMO crops are allowed to be cultivated on Russian soil, except for scientific research. The import of these crops will also be limited. With this proposal, which will be put to vote later, Russia is a step closer to a complete ban on GMO products. At the moment, the import of 18 GMO products is allowed.
