Gracias a las grandes inversiones de Chile en las energías renovables, el país de América Latina
está experimentando un auge solar increíble.
En un
nuevo informe de Bloomberg, Chile tiene tanta energía solar que la esta dando de forma gratuita.
Gracias a un impulso económico del aumento en la producción minera, Chile ahora
tiene 29 parques solares y otros 15 en construcción.
La instalación de 160 megavatios se encuentra en la parte norte
del país, en el municipio de María Elena, a unos 1.300 kilómetros al norte de
Santiago.
Con tanta
energía limpia disponible, el precio de la energía solar ha costado
absolutamente nada para ciertas regiones en los últimos meses. Como Bloomberg
declaró: Los precios al contado llegó a 0, en algunas partes del país.
Debido a la red eléctrica bifurcada de la nación,
la red central y la red del norte no están conectados. PV Insider, observó que
la mayor parte de la demanda se encuentra en la red central, sin embargo, el
mejor recurso solar en el país reside en el desierto de Atacama, en el norte.
El Sistema Interconectado del Norte representa aproximadamente el 24 por ciento
de la capacidad instalada, mientras que la red central tiene la mayoría de la
capacidad con un 74% de los megavatios instalados.
El Sistema Interconectado del Norte es donde los
precios solares van a cero, mientras tanto, los principales centros de

CHILE PRODUCES SO MUCH SOLAR ENERGY THAT IS GIVING IT
AWAY (*)
Thanks to the Chilean huge investments in
renewable energies, the Latin American country is having an incredible solar
growth.
In a new Bloomberg report it is told that Chile has so
much solar energy that is giving it away for free. Thanks to the economic
impulse by the increase of mining activity, Chile has now 29 solar parks and other 15 under construction.
The 160 megawatts parks are located in the
northern part of the country, in the municipality of Santa Elena, some 1,300 km
north of Santiago.
With so much clean energy available, solar
energy costed absolutely nothing for some regions in the last few months. Bloomberg
declared: prices in cash reached zero in some parts of the country.
Due to the nations’s divided
electric network the central and northern grids are not interconnected. PV Insider
observed that most of the demand is in the central grid. But the best solar
resource is in the northern part of the country, in the desert of Atacama. The
northern interconnected system represents approximately 24% of installed
capacity, while the central grid has the majority of the capacity with 74% of installed
megawatts.
The northern
interconnected system is where the solar prices go down to zero, while the main
population centers in the South are not seeing similar benefits. Therefore,
Chile must invest in transmission infrastructure so that the whole country can
profit of solar energy, stabilizing demand.
