MALA PRAXIS CORPORATIVA: COMPRAR VOTOS
DÍGALE A CHEVRON QUE DEJE
DE COMPRAR ELECCIONES! (ENGLISH VERSION BELOW)

TELL CHEVRON TO STOP TRYING TO BUY ELLECTIONS!
Under this heading a campaign was
initiated in the State of California to fight against the oil megacorporation’s
efforts to obstaculize the development of environmentalism in that state.
Michael Brune, Executive
director of the Sierra Club (sierra@sierraclub.org) comments that the oil mega corporation CHEVRON has
been trying to buy wills in the election of municipal authorities in the city
of Richmond, California, dumping millions of dollars trying to fill up those
posts with pro-corporative candidates. Nevertheless, it was a big surprise that in
spite of the corporation’s huge publicity effort, the people of that city defeated those candidates 20 to 1.
This could be an indication that this
crooked practice that does no good either to capitalism or to humanity is about
to lose efficacy. This reprehensible method has been constantly repeated against
consumers that struggle for GMO labelling in an increasing number of states in
the US is about to diminish its momentum.
Informed and responsible citizens
hope for the growth of conscious
capitalism’s efforts to humanize corporate activities. Something that will
benefit investors as well as individuals that, as inevitable partners, will go
hand in hand towards the progress of humanity and the world.
But it would be wise not to be overconfident.
The flock of corporate thugs pushing against humanism swarm in yupees’ offices,
nurtured by big salaries, bonuses and golden parachutes awarded for making
their bosses’s benefits grow at any cost, ignoring that environmental and social progress deserve limiting the strides
towards excessive financial benefits
at any cost at a time in which even
conscious stockholders begin to appreciate investing in universal goods that go
beyond just cold money.
