Proyectos conjuntos para estimular el interés en carreras agrícolas se encuentran entre los frutos posibles de una visita a Australia la semana pasada por responsables de universidades Argentinas.  

Igual que Australia, Argentina ha sido importante en ganadería pero poco evolucionada en la oferta de graduados en agricultura, según dice el Prof. de la Universidad de New England, Victor Minichiello, organizador local de la misión.

"El dominio de la carrera en agricultura del siglo veitinuno frecuentemente no se encuentra actualizado”, dice el Prof. Minichiello.

Las instituciones Argentinas involucradas fueron la Universidad de Quilmes, la Universidad Nacional del Litoral y la Universidad Nacional del Sur. Las instituciones Australianas que tomaron parte fueron las universidades de Sydney, Western Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, La Trobe, Swinburne, CSIRO y Victoria University.

ARGENTINA, CLOSER TIES WITH AUSTRALIA (from an article in Meat Trade News Daily - Week 37 - E-Newsletter; Sep. 9, 2012)

  JOINT projects to stimulate interest in agriculture careers are among the possible fruits of a visit last week by Argentinian university chiefs. 

Like Australia, Argentina was big in livestock but underdone in the supply of agriculture graduates, according to the University of New England's Victor Minichiello, local organiser of the mission.

"People's understanding of a twenty first century agriculture career is often not up to date,'' Professor Minichiello said.

The Argentinian institutions involved were the Universidad de Quilmes, Universidad Nacional del Litoral and Universidad Nacional del Sur. The Australian institutions taking part were the universities of Sydney, Western Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, La Trobe, Swinburne, CSIRO and Victoria University.
