El fiscal Carlos Matheu apunta a lo más alto: probar que la exposición a los agroquímicos fue la consecuencia de las enfermedades y las muertes en el barrio Ituzaingó Anexo, de Córdoba. Los lugareños fueron víctimas de lluvias de agroquímicos en reiteradas oportunidades durante diez años. Ante la multiplicidad de casos de cáncer, malformaciones en bebés y de muertes, se abrieron tres causas judiciales. El fiscal a cargo de la “causa madre” amplió las imputaciones por el delito de “contaminación ambiental dolosa” y “contaminación dolosa continuada”. Así, regresaran al banquillo de los acusados los productores rurales Francisco Parra y Eduardo Gabrielli, y el aeroaplicador Edgardo Pancello, que ya fueron enjuiciados por haber fumigado el barrio en dos oportunidades. A ellos se suman los ingenieros agrónomos Fernando y Javier Amuchástegui, Marcelo Bolatti, Ernesto Fleyer y Alejandra Mendizábal, y el aeroaplicador Gustavo Peralta. “Se trata de actores clave que no pueden desconocer la normativa en materia de agroquímicos”, dijo Matheu a la prensa.

District attorney Carlos Matheu aims higher: he wants to prove that sickness and deaths in the Ituzaingo Anexo quarter in the Prov. Of Cordoba, Argentina was the cosequence of the exposure to agrochemicals.The local people were the victims of agrochemical sprays in various cases in ten years. Three legal cases were opened following multiple cases of cancer, malformations in babies and deaths. The district attorney in charge of the “mother case” extended the accusation for the crime of “criminal environmental contamination” and “continued criminal contamination”.  Thus, accused agricultural producers Francisco Parra and Eduardo Gabrielli, and the aerial fumigator Edgardo Pancello have to go back to court, since they have been prosecuted for spraying the area in two opportunities. Also the agronomists Fernando and Javier Amuchástegui, Marcelo Bolatti, Ernesto Fleyer and Alejandra Mendizábal, and the aero applicator Gustavo Peralta will have to go to court. “They are key actors that cannot ignore the norms related to the use of agrochemicals”, said Matheu to the press.
