DIVERSIDAD DE SEMILLAS EN PELIGRO

La asociación Alemana "Nutzpflanzenvielfalt" ("diversidad de plantas cultivadas") informa sobre la realización de la campaña contra un nuevo reglamento Europeo sobre semillas, al que se opone la “Campaña por la Soberanía de las Semillas”.  

Los proyectos conocidos hasta aquí sobre un nuevo reglamento de la UE promovería la concentración de semillas en las manos de muy pocas compañías semilleras. Para la asociación Alemana esto es inaceptable. El nuevo reglamento sobre semillas debería garantizar condiciones favorables para la diversidad de semillas, las variedades folklóricas y las selecciones biológicas.

Por ello la asociación demanda que no se deba cumplimentar un registro oficial obligatorio. Además, que las condiciones actuales para el registro de variedades para la agricultura orgánica sean simplificadas, puesto que nuestra agricultura debe adaptarse a los cambios climáticos, a las nuevas enfermedades, a los nuevos parásitos y a un modo de vida más ecológico.

NEW EUROPEAN REGULATION: SEED DIVERSITY IN DANGER. (from an article in Organic-Market.Info Online Magazine [newsletter@organic-market.info]; May 10, 2013)

The German association "Nutzpflanzenvielfalt" ("diversity of cultivated plants") reports the beginning of the “Campaign for Seed Sovereignity” against the new European regulation on seeds.

The project known up to now about a new EU regulation would favor the concentration of seeds in the hands of very few seed companies. For the German association this is unacceptable. The new seed regulation should guarantee favorable conditions for seed diversity, native varieties and biological selection.

Therefore, the association demands that the obligation of official registration should not be implemented. Besides, that present registration conditions for organic seeds be simplified, because our agriculture must adapt itself to the climatic changes, the new diseases and parasites, and a more ecologic way of life.
