La firma local Bioceres planea lanzar la primera semilla de trigo transgénica del mundo. La firma Bioceres  basada en Rosario, Santa Fe, dio un nuevo paso en su carrera por convertir el conocimiento biotecnológico en productos concretos y futuros beneficios económicos. A un año de sellar un acuerdo con la estadounidense Arcadia para desarrollar semillas de soja tolerantes a sequía, que estarán en el mercado en 2015 según el programa, ahora mira al trigo. Acaba de firmar un nuevo contrato, esta vez con la compañía francesa Florimond Desprez, para colocar el gen HB4 en semillas de trigo, con una inversión conjunta de u$s 10 millones. El desarrollo se convertirá en la primera semilla de trigo transgénica del mundo. Para lograr el gen, Bioceres trabajó con la Universidad del Litoral y el Conicet desde 2003, y de su acuerdo con Florimond Desprez nació Trigall Genetics.

Comentario del Editor: para obtener beneficios económicos se olvida todo lo demás. Los transgénicos continuarán conquistando el mundo hasta que la Naturaleza, que tiene la costumbre de reaccionar a las agresiones, nos haga recordar las cosas que ahora están olvidando los investigadores, tales como la integridad de los suelos y el ambiente del mundo, la ética y la salud humana.

The local firm Bioceres plans to launch the world’s first GM wheat seed.  Bioceres, based in Rosario, Santa Fe (Argentina) gave a further step in its race to convert the biotechnological knowledge in concrete results and future economic benefits. Arrangements were signed with the US Arcadia to develop drought resistant soybean seeds that will be in the market in 2015, and it is now eyeing wheat. It has just signed another agreement with the French company  Florimond Desprez, to put the HB4 gene in wheat seeds, through US$ 10 million joint investment. The Development will turn to be the world’s first transgenic wheat. To obtain the gene Bioceres worked with the University of Litoral (Santa Fe, Argentina) and CONICET since 2003. From the agreement with Florimond Desprez, TRIGALL GENETICS was born.

Comment from the Editor: In order to obtain economic benefits everything else is forgotten. GM will keep conquering the World until when Nature,that has the habit of protecting itself against agression will get us remember the things agricultural researchers are forgetting now, such as the integrity of World’s soils and environment, ethics and human health.
