ARABIA SAUDITA (ENGLISH VERSION BELOW)
La semana pasada tuvo lugar la 33ª Feria
Internacional de Agricultura, Agua y Agroindustria, Saudi Agriculture 2014, en el Centro de Convenciones y Exhibiciones
en Riyadh.
La agricultura orgánica en el Reino está hoy en rápida
expansión. El número de granjas certificadas orgánicas que en el año 2000 era
de 10, siendo el interés de la población muy débil, hoy llegan a 112
producciones certificadas según los estándares orgánicos Sauditas. El
reconocimiento y el conocimiento de los alimentos orgánicos ha sido lento pero
constante en los últimos años.
Antes del año 2000 menos de un puñado de compañías agrícolas
y productores individuales producían orgánicamentge. Recientemente el Concejo
de Ministros promulgó la Ley de
Agricultura Orgánica que impulsará aún más el movimiento en el Reino.

ARABIA
Last week, Saudi Agriculture 2014, the 33rd international agriculture, water, and agro-industry trade show, took place at the International Convention and Exhibition Center in Riyadh.
Last week, Saudi Agriculture 2014, the 33rd international agriculture, water, and agro-industry trade show, took place at the International Convention and Exhibition Center in Riyadh.
According to Al-Ghamdi, organic agriculture in the Kingdom is
currently booming: “The number of certified organic farming was 10 in 2000. The
awareness of the society was weak regarding organic products. Today, there are
more than 112 organic farms, certified according to Saudi organic standards,”
Al-Ghamdi said, adding that awareness and knowledge about organic products had
been slowly but steadily increasing over the past years.
Before 2000, less than a handful of agricultural companies
and individual farmers grew their produce organically.
Recently, an Organic Farming Law has been approved by the
Council of Ministers, which will further enhance the organic farming movement
in the Kingdom.
