Recientemente Alemania prohibió el uso del fortificador de plantas Vi-Care. Se probó que el producto contenía mayores niveles de DDAC – Cloruro de Didecil Dimetil Amonio – que los permitidos legalmente. Como resultado, muchos cultivadores no eran conscientes de que estaban polucionando sus plantas. Los expertos predicen un gran escándalo en las próximas semanas.

Ahora resulta que hierbas con DDAC se han estado vendiendo en el estado Alemán por al menos tres años. Un importador de Nettetal confirmó esto a RP Online. La compañía importaba el agente de los EEUU.

“Era un producto muy popular”, declara Bernhard Rüb, vocero de la Cámara de Agricultura en el Estado de North Rhine-Westphalia, y un medio muy efectivo de proteger a las plantas de enfermedades fúngicas, hasta que se descubrió que Vi-Care contenía aditivos ilegales”.  

Citrex, el fabricante de Vi-Care, de Miami, EEUU, había estado recomendando el producto como puramente orgánico y presentaba certificados declarando que consistía en una escencia cítrica eco-amigable. Pero luego de que el asunto se hizo público, no pudo volvérselo a contactar.

“Todo indica que se trata de una actividad criminal que está causando un gran daño al sector productor de hierbas frescas”, dijo un vocero del Ministerio del Ambiente en North Rhine-Westphalia. Los expertos prevén pérdidas de millones de euros.

Recently, Germany prohibited the use of the plant strengthener Vi-Care. It was proved this product contains a higher level of DDAC - Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride - residue than is legally allowed. As a result, many growers were not aware of the fact that they polluted their organic plants. Experts predict a greater scandal in the weeks to come. 

Now it turns out that in the German state organic herbs have been sold for at least three years with DDAC. An importer based in Nettetal has confirmed this to RP Online. The company imported the agent from the United States. 

“It was a very popular product”, declares Bernhard Rüb, spokesman of the Chamber of Agriculture in the state North Rhine-Westphalia. It was a very effective means to protect plants from harmful funguses, but now it has been discovered that Vi-Care contains illegal additives.”

Citrex, the manufacturer of Vi-Care based in Miami, had recommended the product as purely organic and presented certificates declaring it consisted of an eco-friendly citrus essence. After the case has come to light, the producer cannot be reached anymore.

“Everything points at criminal activities, causing major damage to the organic fresh produce sector”, a spokesperson of the Ministry for Environment in North Rhine-Westphalia states. Experts predict a loss of millions.
