El
Relator Especial de Naciones Unidas sobre los derechos de los pueblos indígenas
James Anaya dijo que en Argentina "persiste una brecha significativa entre
el marco normativo establecido en materia indígena y su implementación" y
realizó una serie de recomendaciones de corto y mediano plazo para acotarla. Si
bien reconoció que el Estado tanto a nivel federal como provincial, ha dado
"pasos importantes" para reconocer esos derechos, le reclamó que
adopte "políticas públicas claras" y que elabore "medidas
legislativas y administrativas adicionales" para su efectivo cumplimiento.
También pidió que cesen las amenazas e intimidaciones a las poblaciones
"tanto por parte de funcionarios como de particulares" y los desalolojos
ilegales de territorios.

The United Nations Special
Speaker for the rights of the indigenous peoples, James Anaya, said that “in
Argentina still persists a significant gap between the normative framework
established in indigenous matters and their implementation”, and made a series
of recommendations to diminish it in the short and the long time . Even if
Anaya recognizes that the State, both at the national and provincial levels,
has made “important steps” towards the recognition of those rights, he
requested the adoption of “clear public policies”, and that “additional legislative
and administrative measures” be elaborated for their effective compliance. He
also requested that threats and intimidations from “both officers and prívate persons”
as well as illegal evictions cease.
