The
article begins defining pesdticides and their functional characteristics
respect of the pests: insecticides, fungicides and herbicides.
From 1985, PAN (Pesticides Action Network) with its
five regional offices: Asia, Africa, Latin America, North America and Europo, have
been working in what it was named “Dirty Dozen Campaign”. This campaign,
conceived as a tool for popular education on the risks of the indiscriminated
use of pesticides, focuses on twelve pesticides considered extremely dangerous.
The list of the“dirty
dozen” is: 1.- DDT; 2.- LINDANE; 3.- LOS DRINS (aldrine, dieldrine, endrine); 4.- CLHORDANO
HEPTHACHLOR; 5.- PARATHION; 6.- PARAQUAT; 7.- 2,4,5-T (chlorophenoxydics)
8.- PENTACHLOROPHENOL ; 9.- DBCP DBCP (dibromo
chloro propane) ; 10.- DBE (dibromoethylene); 11.- CANPHECHLOR; 12.- CHLORIDIMEPHORM.
The article details the chemical and functional characteristics
of each one. Its is a practical information source on hazardous pesticides.

El
artículo comienza definiendo a los plaguicidas y sus categorías funcionales
respecto de las pestes, como insecticidas, fungicidas y herbicidas.
Desde el año 1985, PAN (Pesticides Action Network) con
sus cinco oficinas regionales: Asia, Africa, América Latina, Norte América y
Europa, están trabajando en lo que se denomino "La Campaña contra la
Docena Sucia". Esta campaña, concebida como un instrumento de educación
popular sobre los riesgos del uso indiscriminado de plaguicidas, enfoca la
atención sobre doce plaguicidas considerados extremadamente peligrosos.
Los integrantes de la llamada “docena sucia” son 1.-
DDT; 2.- LINDANO; 3.- LOS DRINES; 4.- CLORDANO HEPTACLORO; 5.- PARATION; 6.- PARAQUAT; 7.- 2,4,5-T
