GERMANY: LARGEST ORGANIC GLASSHOUSE OPENED IN

At the 'Landgut Pretschen' (Pretschen Estate) in
Brandenburg today the
largest
organic glasshouse in Germany will be opened after a year and a
half. The glasshouse is as big as two football fields.
Bumblebees
are buzzing around the 8,000 tomato plants. Four bumblebee swarms take care of
pollinating the plants in the glasshouse of 2,250 m². The useful insects come
from the firm 'Katz Biotech' in Baruth. The glasshouse has eight compartments.
Organic tomatoes and cucumbers will be grown there.

Philipp has put this project together over the last few years. In the autumn of
2010 building started and cost about 4.5 million euro. The glasshouse was
opened by secretary of state Rainer Bretschneider and Stephan Loge.
The
vegetables will be sold from his own farm shop and on the market in Berlin.
"Five years ago I asked the traders in Berlin to write down their wishes.
Very often I heard the remark, that it was a pity that there were no regional
organic tomatoes. Therefore I decided to start with this."

ALEMANIA: ABRIÓ EN PRETSCHEN EL MAYOR INVERNÁCULO

En la “Granja Pretschen” en Brandenburg, se
abrirá hoy el mayor invernáculo orgánico de Alemania luego de un año y medio de
construcción.
Cuatro enjambres de abejas
vuelan alrededor de 8.000 plantas de tomates para polinizarlos en este
invernáculo de 2.250 m2. Los útiles insectos provienen de la firma 'Katz
Biotech' en Baruth.
El invernáculo tiene ocho
compnentes donde se cultivan tomates y pepinos.
El cultivador Sascha
Philipp planeó este proyecto durante los últimos años, y en el otoño (boreal)
del 2010 comenzó la construcción a un costo de 4,5 millones de euros. Las
instalaciones fueron inauguradas por el secretario de estado Rainer
Bretschneider y Stephan Loge.
Las hortalizas serán
vendidas en el negocio propio y en el mercado Berlinés. “Hace cinco años empecé
a pedir a los comerciantes de Berlín que escribieran sus deseos. Muy a menudo
oía la opinión de que era una lástima de que no hubieran tomates orgánicos en
la región. Por lo cual decidí comenzar a levantar esto”.
