The first oral public trial in Argentine history for spraying with agrochemicas close to established populations will begin today in Córdoba City (Argentina). The trial is the result of a fight of more than a decade against environmental contamination in Ituzaingó, a neighbourhood adjoining a town population five thousand in the periphery of the provincial capital city, limiting rural areas, where the neighbours verified a notorious increase in the cases of cancer and child malformations since the intensive production of soybenas begun. During the whole week, neighbourhood and environmental organizations will demonstrate in front of the courtroom that has to evaluate of the responsibility for those cases, against two farmers and the owner of the plane that sprayed the crops.

El primer juicio oral y público de la historia Argentina por fumigación de agroquímicos cerca de poblaciones urbanas comenzará hoy en Córdoba (Argentina). El proceso judicial es el resultado de más de una década de lucha contra la contaminación ambiental en el barrio Ituzaingó Anexo, un poblado de cinco mil habitantes ubicado en la periferia de la capital provincial, al límite con áreas rurales, donde los vecinos constataron un notorio aumento de casos de cáncer y malformaciones en niños desde la implementación de la producción intensiva de soja. Durante toda la semana, organizaciones vecinales y ambientalistas realizarán manifestaciones frente a las puertas del tribunal encargado de evaluar la responsabilidad en esos hechos de dos productores agrícolas y el dueño de la avioneta que fumigaba sembradíos.
