STOP TRANSGENICS IN MEXICO

A group of civil organizations demanded the Mexican Government to stop allowing the sowing of transgenics. Yesterday, when the Global Day of the Environment was celebrated, they warned about “a vertiginous growth” of experimental crops. A dozen of social, farmer, environmentalist and defenders of the human rights organizations asked the representative of the Secretary of the Environment (Semarnat), Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada, “respect for the human right of a healthy environment”.

UN GRUPO DE ORGANIZACIONES CIVILES EXIGIERON AL GOBIERNO MEXICANO QUE NO PERMITA LA SIEMBRA DE TRANSGÉNICOS (Ámbito Financiero, Campo, Jun. 6, 2012)

Un grupo de organizaciones civiles exigieron al Gobierno mexicano que no permita la siembra de transgénicos, al advertir ayer, cuando se celebró el Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, un «aumento vertiginoso» de los cultivos experimentales. Una docena de agrupaciones sociales, campesinas, ambientalistas y defensores de derechos humanos reclamaron al titular de la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente (Semarnat), Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada, que «respete el derecho humano a un medio ambiente sano».
